Cross Border Vaccines

The recent flu shot shortage in the United States, has inspired more than just cross-border shopping.

The Victoria Clipper, a ferry line that offers trips from Seattle to Victoria, British Columbia has recently thought up a new marketing scheme: offer flu shots with every trip to Victoria.

But remember folks, federally controlled health care is of poorer quality than America's "envy of the world" health care system.

Canada has the distinction of being the only country outside of Asia where people died from SARS. See also Clostridium difficile. Clearly a system worth emulating.

I was simply pointing out the irony of Bush's comments considering his citizens are flocking North for Canada's federally controlled flu shots which their superior private health system cannot supply.

At the risk of sounding pedantic, both France and South Africa (which, last I checked, were not in Asia) also reported SARS deaths:
