Fear And Loathing
Yes, I made it back from Vegas with my life savings. I'm going to take time this week to write up a full account, but in the mean time, I'll give a brief synopsis:
- There were seven of us, all Microsoft employees.
- We stayed in the Mirage Hotel, which had some great restaurants, a fabulous pool, and blackjack dealers who never bust.
- Las Vegas is in the middle of the desert. This fact didn't really sink in until I stepped out of the airport and was instantly sweating in the 45°C (115°F) heat. It was so hot, it was actually cooler without the breeze.
- No, I didn't win anything.
- The second best steak I've ever eaten was at Delmonico Steakhouse (the best was in Kobe).
- Las Vegas never shuts down. At 2:00 am on Friday night there was an hour-long wait to get into most clubs.
- I shook Siegfried's hand!!
- Our cab driver back to the airport spent the entire ride ranting about his intolerance for pedestrians, women drivers, the disabled, the elderly, and foreigners. I was afraid that if the cab ride was any longer he would have told us how he was prejudiced against every minority, including bigot cab drivers.
- No, I won't tell you how much I lost.
- No, it wasn't that much.
